CMS promotes Mihai Jiganie-Serban to Partner in Romania
CMS Romania is pleased to announce that Mihai Jiganie-Serban has been promoted to Partner as of 1 May 2023. Mihai is Head of Criminal Defense Practice and is the firm’s ninth local partner in Romania.
Mihai has over 18 years’ legal experience and his practice is focused on criminal law, with significant experience advising on anti-corruption, economic crimes, money laundering cases, and internal investigations, as well as capital market and pharma sector frauds.
Horea Popescu, Managing Partner of the CMS Bucharest office, commented: “Mihai is a talented lawyer and widely recognised as a leading expert in his field. He has a strong track record of working with key clients and we are delighted that the recognition of both his expertise level and outstanding market reputation is underlined by this new statute as partner. This represents a step forward in the firm’s consolidation of the Criminal Defense Practice and I am confident that his promotion will further enhance our offering in Romania and beyond”.
Throughout his career, Mihai has successfully assisted and represented both individuals and national and international companies across a diverse range of industries, including energy, banking and finance, leasing, insurance, energy, civil and industrial constructions, media and advertising, representing clients in front of all structures of the Public Authority (Police, Prosecutors’ Office, Courts of law). The latest edition of the international legal directory Legal 500 EMEA ranks Mihai as “leading individual” for white collar crime practice in Romania.
“I am honored to be confirmed as a Partner in CMS Bucharest Office” said Mihai Jiganie–Serban. “I am happy to work with a very dedicated and high-performing team. Together we will continue to consolidate our leading position on the local market and to provide clients with the same rigorous strategic advice and efficient comprehensive assistance covering contentious and risk management issues. Our experience will allow the CMS Bucharest team to add the white-collar crimes area of practice to the existing leading roles in the relevant regional markets.”
CMS promotes 65 to partnership
Mihai’s promotion is one of 65 new partner promotions across CMS, representing an increase on last year’s global promotions round. The appointments span 28 cities across the UK, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America, with women accounting for almost one third of the promotions globally.
Despite the ongoing challenging times for all businesses both economically and politically, CMS has continued to invest in its people across all of its offices and geographies in which the firm operates. This latest cohort of new partners is a reflection of this.
