The „Attractive Romania” platform is predicted to see a 20 percent rise in foreign visitors
According to Razvan Popescu, undersecretary of state at the Ministry of European Investment and Projects (MIPE), the ‘Attractive Romania’ program is a significant step the nation is taking to revive lesser-known but important cultural objectives for national and European history and culture. Popescu made this statement on Wednesday.
„From a tourism standpoint, the ‘Attractive Romania’ program is a step forward in rediscovering and developing our history and culture. Our land is incredibly lovely, and it is important to develop cultural tourism there. Every step we take in this country tells a tale. Compared to 2023, when 2 million international visitors were registered, we project a 20% rise in foreign visitors to Romania. (*) The software will be translated into multiple languages in order to cater to international travelers as well. Naturally, since we live in such a lovely nation with unique ideals, we must also learn for ourselves. Popescu stated at the launch of the „Attractive Romania” multimedia platform to encourage cultural exchange, „We are addressing both the Romanian tourist public and the foreign public.”
He mentioned the approximately 8 million euros that this cultural tourism promotion campaign, „Attractive Romania,” is worth.
Popescu stated that more than 8,000 locations throughout the region will have road signs by the end of this year.
The dignitary expressed his happiness at being a member of the team that oversees the first cultural tourism program in Romania to be funded by the PNRR. The program’s goal is to begin developing this tourism specialty in partnership with other public, corporate, or civil society organizations.
Thus, starting on Wednesday, May 15, travelers from both Romania and other countries can learn about new places to visit in the nation with the aid of „Attractive Romania,” the most sophisticated local multimedia platform of its kind.
The cultural tourism initiative in Romania consists of 12 themed routes spanning the whole nation, each with 275 sites to see. These routes are showcased on a specialized multimedia platform and will include signage and specialized road infrastructure by 2026.
As per the ministry, the information is made available to users via the ‘Attractive Romania’ multimedia platform on two platforms: the website www.romania-atractiva.ro and the free mobile travel application for iOS and Android smartphones.
For the program, a digital library featuring the history of each cultural place has also been created for the first time and is accessible in a number of international languages.
The next phase of the program will see the installation of road signal infrastructure for each of the 12 cultural tourist routes, completing the initial mapping and content development of the 275 tourist attractions that will be completed between 2023 and 2024 and integrated into the multimedia platform.
The first national program to promote cultural-historical tourism, „Attractive Romania,” commenced in 2023 and runs through June 2026.
