300 million streams of Taylor Swift’s new album in a single day established a record on Spotify
According to DPA, Taylor Swift’s most recent album, „The Tortured Poets Department,” became the first in Spotify history to achieve 300 million streams in a single day.
With the release of her album on April 19, Taylor Swift, 34, became the most streamed artist on the platform in a single day, according to the streaming service.
„A new chapter has begun! The business stated on the X platform, formerly known as Twitter, „Taylor Swift’s album ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ became the first album in Spotify history to exceed 300 million streams in a single day on April 19, 2024.”
The singer’s eagerly awaited 11th studio album features collaborations with Post Malone and Florence and the Machine, with song titles and lyrics seemingly alluding to the singer’s past romantic partners.
The first single off the album, „Fortnight,” a joint effort with American rapper Post Malone (actual name: Austin Richard Post), has become the most streamed song on Spotify in a single day.
Along with Post Malone, the singer’s collaborator, the music video for the song stars actors Ethan Hawke and Josh Charles, who were in the cast of the 1989 movie „Dead Poets Society”.
Shortly after releasing the 16-track album, the American pop sensation revealed „The Anthology,” an extended version with an additional 15 tracks.
The singer of the popular song „Bad Blood,” who is well-known for making references to her previous relationships in her music, ranked the song „So Long, London” in fifth place, a spot designated for the albums’ most important tracks.
The song might provide fresh insight on her six-year relationship split with actor Joe Alwyn.
Fans conjectured that the album title might be a reference to Joe Alwyn prior to its release.
Alwyn and Paul Mescal, stars of „Normal People,” disclosed in December 2022 that they are members of „The Tortured Man Club,” a WhatsApp group chat that includes Andrew Scott, the actor from „Fleabag.”
Swift is well-known for making references to Joe Jonas, Harry Styles, Jake Gyllenhaal, and John Mayer in her songs.
On the Grammy stage in February, Swift declared the release of her most recent album.
