Emma Stone, Joaquin Phoenix and Pedro Pascal are cast in a new Ari Aster film
The next film „Eddington” directed by American filmmaker Ari Aster will star Emma Stone, Pedro Pascal, Joaquin Phoenix, and Austin Butler, according to an EFE report on Wednesday.
The announcement was posted on the Instagram account of production company A24 („Everything, Everywhere, All at Once”), which featured a picture of a film set flap with the word „Eddington” printed on it, resting on desert rocks.
Michael Ward, Clifton Collins Jr., and Deirdre O’Connell complete the ensemble.
As of right now, the only plot detail available for the movie is that it centers on a small-town New Mexico sheriff who has „higher” ambitions.
Given that Aster has directed Midsommar and Hereditary, the American horror press thinks the movie might be another horror film.
This week will see the start of production on the movie, which was also written by Aster. Darius Khondji, who was twice nominated for an Oscar—for Alan Parker’s Evita and Alejandro González Iñárritu’s Bardo, False Chronicle of a Handful of Truths—will be directing the picture.
Phoenix and the American filmmaker also worked together on „Beau is Afraid” (2023), a film for which Phoenix received a Golden Globe nomination.
Pedro Pascal received Best Actor in a Drama Series at the SAG Awards for The Last of Us, while Emma Stone won Best Actress at the most recent Academy Awards for her performance as Bella Baxter in Yorgos Lanthimos’ Poor Things.
Denis Villeneuve’s „Dune: Part Two” and Jeff Nichols’ „The Bikeriders,” which are slated for release in June, both feature Austin Butler among their stars.
